Robotics and Computer Programming

The STA Robotics team is open to students in grades 10-12 and offers a space where students can learn new skills and build exciting projects with their peers.

Robotics
STA's Robotics Club is proud to compete in the LDCSB's Robotics league as well as the provincial VEX  Robotics league. Students work together in small teams to design, build, and code robots to score as many points as possible for the given challenge. This year's LDCSB robotics season runs from November to February where STA Currently has 4 teams competing. Information on this year's challenge can be found at:

Tournament Format: Teams compete in rounds of 2 vs 2 round robin competition where they are randomly paired teams from across the competition. After this is complete, all teams are ranked and then proceed to form an alliance with another team.  Once these alliances are chosen teams compete together throughout the knockout stages and eventually 1 alliance of 2 teams are crowned champion.

LDCSB's 2022/2023 Robotics League Results

This year we had 4 teams compete in the inaugural LDCSB Robotics League. In 2 regular season events and the league Championship event, we went undefeated with an all STA alliance coming away with the first ever LDCSB championship Banner (Pictured Above).
Coding
Following the Robotics season programmers begin to brush up on their skills for the upcoming coding competitions. These include:

- The Canadian Computing Competition hosted online by the University of Waterloo. Programmers compete as individuals and attempt 5 questions in either the Junior or Senior category. The competition this year is on February 15th, 2023.

- The ECOO CS team competition where students work together to solve 5 questions in 3 hours. The first competition is board wide where students compete in teams of 4 against other schools with qualifiers advancing to the Regional competition at the end of April to compete for a chance at provincials.
