Mathematics Pathways

Common Misconception: If my child takes grade 10 applied they can't go to University

This is the most common concern we hear from parents however it's simply not true. As you can see in the Math Pathways chart below there are many pathways to success.

The most common is through MCF3M, or the grade 11 mixed course. This course is created to review key concepts of grade 10 and introduce new concepts for the grade 11 university level course. This makes those challenging concepts less intimidating when they arrive in MCR3U. The MCF3M course is also an excellent option for those students who haven't had the outcome in grade 10 academic they were hoping for and need a bridge to success in MCR3U.

Alternate pathways through MCF3M include going straight to grade 12 university level Data, MDM4U, or through MCT4C, a college level course to the grade 12 advanced functions class, MHF4U.

Many university programs simply require a single grade 11 M or U credit and there are many ways to achieve this.
