On May 1 at RBC Place Sophia Vaessen (St. Joseph's Catholic High School) and Dario Di Carlo (St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School) were awarded the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters Southwestern Ontario Branch bursary, valued at $2,000. They were the two LDCSB student recipients of this award this year.
This award recognizes two outstanding secondary school graduates bound for an apprenticeship, college, or university program in the manufacturing sector.
Sophia will be pursuing an Industrial Mechanic Millwright Apprenticeship and Dario is enrolled in the Welding and Fabrication Technician program at Fanshawe College this fall.
