The Power of Connection
Have you ever had an experience that was unexpected and upsetting? Likely all of you reading this have. The storms of life come and often without warning. There is no weather report for the storms of life!
Children and adults can have this experience equally however children will likely require more assistance by a caring adult to help them when they are upset. In these situations, we all need to move from isolation and despair to connection and hope. As supportive adults, having gentle eye contact, a kind facial expression, and a warm tone of voice will help calm an upset child more quickly.
Try this:
As a class, group or family watch the following video about resilience and the power of connection to beat stress and life’s difficulties:
“Scarlett- animated short” (2:46)
Ask yourself, there is no wrong answer:
What was the one key thing that you think helped Scarlett in the video? What is one feeling that you have towards Scarlett?
Think about a time when you faced a difficulty, who was there to help you? How did you get to where you are now?
Connecting to Our Faith
Lord, you are Holy above all others, and all the strength that I need is in your hands.
I am not asking, Lord, that you take this trial away. Instead, I simply ask that Your will be done in my life. Whatever that means, that is what I want.
But I admit that it's hard, Lord. Amen
